Reflections of #IWD2023 at Grab

DSC 3464

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Whether you’re a woman or an ally to women around you, we come together and celebrate the amazing things that women have accomplished, and to work towards a future where every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential.

At Grab, we celebrated this year’s United Nation’s IWD theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” which highlights the importance of leveraging technology to empower women and promote digital inclusion and gender equality. As part of Grab’s Environmental, Social and corporate Governance (ESG) commitments, we target to have 40% women in leadership positions by 2030, up from 34% in 2021. We’ve also retained a high gender wage parity index of 0.98 since 2021 (Grab ESG Report 2021).

Throughout the month of March, our Women at Grab inclusion community and local People Operations teams hosted in-person and virtual events across all our offices  to bring together all Grabbers to discuss gender equality and equity at Grab. This included conversations around career stories from unconventional paths, experiences of non-inclusivity and work-life balance through different life stages and journeys. Our diverse panels of speakers provided insights and learnings to our Grabbers and started meaningful conversations around gender equity, equality and allyship in the workplace.

A great turnout at our Indonesia office with Mayang Schreiber, Chief Communications Officer at Grab Indonesia, Meutya Hafid, Chair of the First Commission of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, and Natalia Rialucky Marsudi, Founder and CEO of Fairatmos, to celebrate #IWD2023 together.

Our Chief People Officer, Ong Chin Yin kicked off our month-long IWD events at Grab with our Co-founder, Tan Hooi Ling and Group Managing Director in Indonesia, Neneng Goenadi with a panel discussion about Innovation and technology for gender equality. She penned her thoughts on how we can build a more inclusive workplace here.

Across our different offices around the world, we had an Appreciation Wall for Grabbers to write notes of appreciation to fellow women Grabbers. This gathered huge participation and reaffirmed that women play an important role in our workplace, for our people and towards our communities.

As the month comes to an end and we continue on our mission to empower women and promote gender equality, we spoke with some members of our Women at Grab committee to find out their reflections of IWD this year.
